I Cook (and sometimes read), Therefore I Am...

Ok, this will be me tomorrow, minus the skirt and pumps, of course (John can keep on dreamin'), but the stove I have is just about as old as the one in the pic. 'Ol Bessie's been good to me, though, so I'd better shuddup, eh?

I hope everyone had a splendid, delicious Thanksgiving yesterday, and ate their fill of bird, stuffing, punkin pie, and all the fixings, and never gained a pound! Seriously, though, what's the sense in all that food if you don't have to unbutton your jeans after chowing down at the table, right? I've got just about everything I need on hand to cook our own belated T-Day dinner, but today at the grocery store, I forgot the blasted potatoes! Poor John - he'll be making a trip up there in the morning for me...heh heh. Tonight I work on the cranberries and pie, and maybe knock out the green bean casserole just for good measure. One small stove does not equal the ability to cook obscene amounts of food all at the same time. What I wouldn't give for two convection ovens and a 6-burner cooktop!

As for reading? Well, yes, I still do that, but I feel like I'm slogging through mud as slow as I read these days. I've been working on the Jo Goodman book for over a week now, and I'm just crossing the 150-page mark. This is a thick book that seems to be taking its sweet time to get anywhere! Heck, I've been burning through my work-related articles I've been reading for continuing education units faster than I'm getting through this book. And trust me, nothing spells excitement like 'nitric oxide and its effect on refractory hypoxemia in the neonate'... Stunning, really. Don't even get me started on hyperbaric oxygen therapy (yawn), I'll never be able to shut up. ;-)

That Jo Goodman book ... perhaps you should set it aside and read a faster-paced one. :-)

Yeah, I'm starting to think that's a good idea.
